Yohan Cabaye joins Palace

Cape Town - French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye penned a three-year deal at Crystal Palace to become the club's most expensive signing.

The club's website confirmed the deal on Friday.

Crystal Palace Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of French international midfielder Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint Germain for a club record fee, subject to international clearance.

The 29-year-old has signed a three year deal at Selhurst Park for an undisclosed fee and will be linking up once again with manager Alan Pardew, after the pair enjoyed a successful stint together at Newcastle United from 2011 to 2014.

On joining the club Cabaye told cpfc.co.uk: “I’m happy to be here. I’ve been waiting for the decision, had the medical and now I can’t wait to focus on my new team, a new season and my new life.

“I wanted to come and play for Palace because there are some really strong players here. They finished very well last season and I think they can compete to get into the top eight.

"I also know the gaffer and have worked with him before and I’m confident with him. I want to do my best for him because he’s made a big effort to get me to come here, as well as the Chairman, so I have to say a big thank you to both of them.”

Today, the club also announced a partnership with the Mansion Group as its new Official Main Sponsor. The confirmation of the global online gaming business as sponsor will see both partners working closely together across a broad spectrum of club and fan activities in 2015/16.

Cabaye made his name at Lille in his homeland where he helped his local side become a force in French football, winning Ligue 1 in 2010/11. After gaining Champions League experience, the central midfielder joined the Magpies and began to show his talent to an English audience.

In his first season with the Black and Whites he helped guide them to an impressive fifth-place finish, and became a firm fan favourite thanks to his tenacious displays in midfield and penchant for netting free-kicks.

He scored 18 times in 93 appearances under Pardew's management before joining PSG for around £20 million in January 2014. Last season saw him complete a French league and couple double with the Parisians before deciding to return to England with the South London and Proud Eagles.

Cabaye also brings a wealth of international experience to SE25, having won 34 caps for his country, and as a member of the Euro 2012 and 2014 World Cup squads.
