London - The English Football Association says West Bromwich Albion midfielder Chris Brunt has been suspended for one match and fined £8 000 after admitting a misconduct charge of abusing a match official during his side's 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa in their FA Cup quarterfinal.

The FA says Tuesday that Brunt accepted he used "abusive and/or insulting words and/or behavior towards a match official in the tunnel area" after his side's loss on March 7.

Brunt will miss West Brom's Premier League game away to Manchester City on March 21.
