Brady spot on for Hull

Hull - A contentious penalty by Robbie Brady gave Hull their second successive win in the Premier league on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over struggling West Ham.

WRAP: English Premiership

Brady's goal proved the difference in an entertaining game but which left West Ham winless since they won on the first day of the season and without a goal in four of their six league games.

Hull -- who beat Newcastle 3-2 away last Saturday -- have 10 points, five more than West Ham, and are seventh in the table.

West Ham were left furious by referee Kevin Friend's decision to award a penalty in the 12th minute for Joey O'Brien pushing Robbie Brady over in the box.

Brady paid little attention to their protests and the Irish international picked himself up to fire the ball home for his third goal of the campaign.

West Ham poured forward in search of an equaliser but both Modibo Maiga and Mark Noble sent efforts wide.

However, the visitors thought they should have had a penalty of their own later in the first-half as James Tomkins's header was cleared off the line by Egyptian international Ahmed Elmohamady.

However Hammers players were convinced the 26-year-old had handled the ball while clearing it, but it was to no avail as Friend waved aside their appeals.

Elmohamady was himself to go close to doubling Hull's lead but his header was tipped round the post by Hammers' Finnish goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen -- seconds after Madiga had shwon himself to be sharper defending than shooting by heading Hull's Curtis Davies's header onto his crossbar.

The second-half was less frenetic but Hull had two great chances to put the game to bed with first Danny Graham making a hash of an easy opportunity and then Jake Livermore hit the post with a terrific effort from long range.

The former Spurs man, though, was to be involved in another controversial moment that went against West Ham later in the half as the ball appeared to strike his arm inside the box.

However, once again Friend earned himself no favours with Hammers boss Sam Allardyce as he refused to give a penalty, prompting a furious reaction from the touchline by the visiting manager.
