Bolton fail on the road again

Stoke - Stoke beat Bolton 2-0 Saturday in the Premier League in a fifth straight away defeat for the visitors.

Stoke almost took the lead in the 26th at the Britannia Stadium after Bolton defender Gary Cahill accidentally sent a cross from Tuncay over his own bar.

Stoke made the breakthrough in the 37th following a corner from Tuncay.

Bolton failed to clear with striker Johan Elmander heading across his own area and Danny Higginbotham forced the ball across the line at the back post on his return to the side.

Bolton made it 2-0 in the 62nd after Tuncay sent Matthew Etherington racing clear. The winger was tripped by Zat Knight as he broke into the box.

Etherington took the penalty kick himself which Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen deflected onto the post before the ball trickled over the line.
