Blues sport director to quit

London - Chelsea's sporting director Frank Arnesen will leave his post at the end of the season, the Premier League club announced on Saturday.

"After six wonderful years I have decided to seek a new challenge when my contract expires at the end of this season," Arnesen, the former Danish international, said on the Chelsea website (www.chelseafc.com)

Arnesen's resignation is the second high-profile departure announced by the club in a matter of weeks after long-serving assistant manager Ray Wilkins left earlier in the month.

No reason was given for the sudden exit of Carlo Ancelotti's right-hand man.

Chelsea started the season in commanding form but have lost three of their last four Premier League games and lead the standings only on goal difference from Manchester United.
