Blackburn beat West Brom

West Bromwich - Nikola Kalinic scored two goals before being sent off Tuesday as Blackburn beat West Bromwich Albion 3-1 to give new manager Steve Kean his first victory in the Premier League.

Kalinic twice gave Blackburn the lead at The Hawthorns before being dismissed for a robust challenge on Paul Scharner shortly after Mame Biram Diouf added a third goal.

The Baggies had gone level midway in the first half when Jerome Thomas canceled out Kalinic's first goal in the 17th minute, but then had Gabriel Tamas also sent off late on.

Blackburn went ahead after just three minutes as Kalinic kept his cool after being played through by El-Hadji Diouf, but the Baggies equalized when Somen Tchoyi picked out Thomas at the far post with a superb low cross from the right.

Blackburn were forced into a halftime change with substitute goalkeeper Mark Bunn coming on to replace Robinson. Bunn was quickly tested as Odemwingie broke clear and fired a fierce shot which he turned behind for a corner.

Blackburn reclaimed the lead after 53 minutes after Nelsen headed Diouf's corner back across goal and Kalinic jumped above the defense to nod home.

Kalinic almost pounced for a hat trick moments later as Carson miscontrolled a backpass from Gabriel Tamas but the goalkeeper recovered.

Another corner led to Blackburn's third just after the hour.

Pedersen took it short to Diouf and the Senegal international delivered a fine cross for namesake Mame Biram Diouf to head in from close range.

But just as Blackburn seemed to have taken a firm grip on the game, they found themselves a man down as Kalinic was dismissed.

The double goalscorer tangled with Paul Scharner just inside the hosts' half and referee Phil Dowd showed a straight red card after he crudely caught the Austrian just below the knee with his studs.
