Berahino hands West Brom victory

Birmingham — Saido Berahino scored his first goal for West Bromwich Albion since threatening to go on strike as his team beat city rival Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday.

Berahino's outstretched foot turned in a shot by teammate Salomon Rondon in the 39th minute for West Brom's second win of the season.

Berahino said on Twitter he would not play for the club after failing to secure a move to Tottenham on transfer deadline day but returned to action in last week's 0-0 draw against Southampton.

Rondon nearly doubled the score for West Brom on 83 minutes, but United States goalkeeper Brad Guzan made an impressive diving save to his left to keep out the header.
