Cape Town - Liverpool's £32.5 million signing Christian Benteke will wear will the iconic number 9 jersey this season.
The Belgium striker, who won praise from Reds manager Brendan Rodgers for his debut performance, has been confirmed as the club's new number 9 after Rickie Lambert joined West Bromwich Albion.
Benteke will now follow in the footsteps of other famous number 9's from the Anfield club- Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Ian St John and Fernando Torres.

Liverpool kick-off their 2015/16 Premier League campaign on Sunday at the Britannia Stadium - the same place where the club suffered their heaviest defeat in 52 years on the final day of last season.
Stoke City vs Liverpool gets underway at 17:00 on Sunday.
