Benni's move on ice

Johannesburg - Out of sorts and out of favour at West Ham United, striker Benni McCarthy seems to have run into a dead end concerning his career.

Even though he has not been included in the Hammers' 25-man squad for the English Premiership, he is still being linked with moves away from Upton Park.

The Siya crew recently revealed rumours that linked McCarthy to a loan deal that may see him team up with another Bafana Bafana veteran in Aaron Mokoena at Portsmouth in the English Championship.

Benni’s brother, Jerome McCarthy, spoke to the Siya crew to give us an update on the player's progress.

He said that his brother is on the move, but he's moving house across town in London, and not clubs just yet.

“Well, I spoke to him and he did not say anything. Nobody has approached him yet. Everything that we are working on is for next season, nothing for now,” he said.

He also confirmed that nothing will materialise in the near future regarding the rumour that his brother may join Pompey in the Championship.

He revealed that unless McCarthy wants to go to Russia, where the transfer window is still open, he does not see anything happening soon.
