Bendtner hits back

Cape Town - Nicklas Bendtner has blasted former club Arsenal for wasting him during the final stages of his time with the club.

"At Arsenal I barely played. My last year was wasted there." said the former Gunners striker.

The Daily Mirror report that Nicklas Bendtner has hit out at former club Arsenal and accused them of wasting him during his time in London.

Bendtner scored 24 goals in 106 appearances for the Gunners but fans of the London club would argue that his goal tally should be at least double that amount such was the wasteful nature of the player in front of goals.

"I played regularly for Juventus until I got injured.

"[The previous year] I was loaned to Juve. It went well there. I played regularly, and I was fit. Then I got injured and had to miss the next six months."

"We were champions, I wanted to stay.

"But Arsenal took me back. I wasted a year there. That annoys me the most."

Bendtner's words come after a free transfer to German side Wolfsburg after Arsenal declined to renew his contract. The striker has not started a game for Wolfsburg and admits that he misses London.

"Wolfsburg is obviously different, but it’s not bad here," said Bendtner.

"And if I want a larger city, one is by train in an hour in Berlin. There I have many friends."

But the Danish international's son still lives in London, a city which he considers home.

"I miss my son. If I have a day off, I will always try to travel to London to spend time with him. London is my city, I lived there since I was 16."
