Cape Town - Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli could be headed for the Liverpool exit after Serie A side Bologna confirmed their interest in him.
Bologna have entered the race to end Mario Balotelli's nightmare stay in the Premier League, according to the Evening Standard.
The Italian club is back in the Serie A after earning promotion last season and the club's director of sport, Pantaleo Corvino, is open to signing the Italian international.
Balotelli joined Liverpool last season in a £16 million move from AC Milan.
The 24-year-old striker scored just once in the Premier League and has fallen out of favour with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.
After Rodgers added Danny Ings (Burnley) and Christian Benteke (Aston Villa) to the first team squad earlier in the summer, Balotelli must now be considered the fifth best striker, at best, for the Anfield giants after the two new recruits along with loan-signing Divock Origi and the injury-plagued Daniel Sturridge.
Balotelli was left out of the English club's pre-season tour to Australia and Asia and will reportedly be offloaded this summer if a buyer can be found for his services.
