Bale would transform United

Cape Town - Martin Samuel believes that if Manchester United signed Real Madrid attacking forward, Gareth Bale, it would transform them into serious league contenders next season.

Samuel, the Daily Mail's chief sports writer, made the bold claim after Manchester United went down to Chelsea on Saturday at Stamford Bridge, according to teamtalk.com.

Eden Hazard's goal separated the two sides on the day and effectively ended the title race as a contest but Samuel is of the opinion that one player could be the difference next seaosn.

“I think Manchester United could possibly win the league next season,” Samuel said.

“But if they get Gareth Bale, they will definitely win the league. They are the upcoming team.

“If you look at the round robin between the top five, United are Chelsea are neck and neck.

“If you look at Chelsea, they finished top of that group last season, and that was the sign that they were coming back up to the top.

“Against the Champions League clubs, they took 16 out of 18 points.

“That’s a good sign, as it shows you can match the best."

Bale signed for Real Madrid in 2013 on a record £85.3 million deal from Tottenham Hotspur.
