Baggies to hand Diaby a lifeline

Cape Town - Former Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby is set to join Premier League club West Bromwich Albion in what must be a last ditch attempt to save his football career.

Sky Sports report that the former Arsenal midfielder will join West Bromwich Albion in the coming week.

Diaby is set to undergo a medical with the Baggies this weekend after being released by Arsenal. The 29-year-old's contract at the Emirates expired at the end of June and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger opted to allow the midfielder to exit the club.

The French midfielder played just 124 times for Arsenal during his nine seasons with the London club but made just one appearance for the Gunners in the 2014/15 season.

Diaby suffered a mammoth 40 injuries during his time at Arsenal but may be given a chance to resurrect his career by manager Tony Pulis.

West Brom are reportedly close to agreeing deals for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Wayne , Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert and are interested in bringing Borussia Dortmund’s Colombian striker Adrian Ramos to the Premier League this season.
