Arsenal snatch late draw

Liverpool - Arsenal grabbed a point with a freak late goal in a 1-1 draw at Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday in a Premier League clash which saw both sides finish the game with 10 players.

David Ngog gave Liverpool a 46th minute lead, but Arsenal levelled in the 90th minute.

Tomas Rosicky's cross was bundled on to a post by Marouane Chamakh and the ball rebounded back over the goalline off Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina.

Joe Cole's English Premier League bow as a Liverpool player lasted just 45 minutes before he was sent off on the stroke of half-time for a scything tackle on Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny.

French defender Koscielny, a summer capture from Lorient, was stretchered off as former Chelsea star Cole left the pitch dismayed by referee Martin Atkinson's decision.

Atkinson had already booked Arsenal youngster Jack Wilshere for a studs-up challenge on Liverpool's Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano.

In injury time at the end of the match Koscielny, who had returned after the half-time interval, was also sent off for handball.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
