Arsenal set for £50m bid

Cape Town - Reports in France are linking Arsene Wenger with a £50 million bid for Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.

The Express report that Arsenal are lining up a move for Edinson Cavani after growing fears regarding Olivier Giroud's ankle injury.

Cavani, who was linked with a move to Manchester United at the start of the summer, is reportedly interested in leaving Paris St. Germain after falling behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the side's leading striker.

Giroud's injury leaves the London club without a regular striker which Wenger has been searching for since the end of last season.

PSG may complicate the matter for Arsenal by only allowing Cavani to leave if they can recruit another striker before the close of the window.

Laurent Blanc is interested in raiding Real Madrid for French star Karim Benzema.

Benzema is currently Los Blancos number one striker but with the Champions League winners' keen on a move for Falcao, PSG could yet get Benzema before the close of the window.
