Cape Town - Bayern Munich failed in an attempt to convince Arsenal to let Mesut Ozil leave the Emirates in the summer.
Metro report that Arsene Wenger rebuffed an an enquiry from Bayern Munich for German World Cup winner Mesut Ozil.
El Confidencial, a Spanish publication, believe that Pep Guardoila approached Arsenal about the sale of Ozil only to be refused.
The report indicates that Bayern Munich's offer was well below the £42.4 million that Arsenal paid to bring the former Real Madrid star to London.
Bayern are believed to have tempted Arsene Wenger to sell Ozil because such funds would then be available to be used to re-sign Cesc Fabregas. Wenger rejected Bayern Munich's offer and the chance to bring Fabregas back to the club.
Ozil has been heavily criticised this season for a series of lacklustre performances for the Gunners.
