Alonso tipped for Anfield return

Cape Town - Former Anfield favourite Xabi Alonso is being strongly linked with a return to the club after returning to training in poor condition.

The Express report that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is willing to part ways with Alonso after the team's medical staff rose concerns over the player's physical condition.

Alonso's place in the starting lineup for Real Madrid is in jeopardy after the club signed German World Cup star midfielder Toni Kroos and now the player be could be sold as Ancelotti has doubts over Alonso's physical abilities.

Spanish outlet El Confidencial claims that Carlo Ancelotti is willing to listen to offers for the 32-year-old central midfielder.

Alonso left Liverpool five years ago in a deal worth £30,000,000 and could return to the club for just a fraction of that fee.
