Cape Town - David De Gea was in fine form at Old Trafford to deny Everton taking a point from the clash. 

De Gea was left taking in the compliments following his brilliant afternoon at Old Trafford with commentators and former players heaping praise on the Spanish goalkeeper.

No surprise then that De Gea was called up to the Sport24 EPL Team of the Week 7.

"De Gea, heroic performance winning @ManUtd 2 points with 3 extraordinary saves. Great to see," former United keeper Peter Schmeichel said on Twitter.

"De Gea was outstanding," said Everton manager Roberto Martinez. "There were some incredible saves, two were eye-catching, but throughout he was very strong and secure."
"And then David did several extraordinary saves to keep the three points at home. What a superb performance! It seems his new haircut brought him luck…!" said Juan Mata

First he saved a penalty from Leighton Baines, who had scored in all FOURTEEN of his previous English Premiership spot kicks:
