Cape Town - Danish centre back Daniel Agger has begged Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers to allow him to leave Liverpool this season.
The Mirror reports that Agger made his request during the team's pre-season tour to America.
It is unclear the specific reasons why Agger wants to leave the club but after making just 23 appearances for the club in all competitions last season, the player has now requested Rodgers' permission to make a move away from Merseyside.
Sport24 reported in July that Agger was considering his future at the club.
Now with Barcelona interested in signing Agger, the Dane is keen to call time on his Anfield career.
The 29-year-old defender reportedly was overcome with emotion when talking with Rodgers and had to be comforted by a teammate.
Rodgers reportedly accepted the tearful request from Agger and moved quickly to sign Dejan Lovren from Southampton.
