Afellay set for Stoke move

Cape Town - Former Barcelona winger and Netherlands international Ibrahim Afellay is on the verge of completing a move to Premier League outfit, Stoke City.

Sky Sports report that Afellay is having a medical with Stoke City.

The 29-year-old winger's career at Barcelona fizzled out as he struggled to break into the star-studded first team.

Afellay spent four and half seasons as a Barcelona player after completing a €3 million transfer from PSV.

The Dutch international spent time on loan at Schalke and Olympiacos before leaving Barcelona on a free at the end of last season.

Stoke City failed to land Inter Milan forward Xherdan Shaqiri earlier in the transfer window but look set to seal a deal for Afellay.

Afellay has 50 caps for the Netherlands senior side.
