Adebayor takes Spurs leave

London - Tottenham Hotspur has given permission for striker Emmanuel Adebayor to return to his native Togo for personal reasons.

Spurs did not state how long Adebayor will be absent for.

A statement on the club website says, "We can confirm that Emmanuel Adebayor has been given permission to return home for personal reasons," and "this is a private matter, and so we will not be providing any further comment."

Adebayor has not played for Mauricio Pochettino's side since November 9, a 2-1 defeat to Stoke.

He has scored twice in 12 appearances this season.
