Downs boss donates R23m

Johannesburg - Patrice Motsepe has donated more than R23 million to various organisations as the Mamelodi Sundowns chairman looks to give back to the South African community.

Motsepe had raised the funds through the Broad-based Economic Empowerment Trust for education, health, welfare and other community upliftment projects.

"One of my objectives is to give back, particularly to communities on whose land I make money," Motsepe told The Sowetan.

"While it is not possible to feed all starving communities in the country, I am glad that I make changes where I can. That is one of my objectives."

Some notable beneficiaries include Cosatu, Sadtu, Nehawu and the Zion Christian Church.
