Cape Town - Bafana Bafana coach Joel Santana gets down to Fifa Confederations Cup business on Thursday when he names a locally based squad for the international friendly against Zambia.
The match, which has been termed a "practice", will give the Brazilian an opportunity to see how far players have progressed before a more serious clash, against Chile, in Polokwane during February.
It is expected that overseas players, including the likes of former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Rowen Fernandez, will be available for this match.
Fernandez has been sidelined for the past four-months after rupturing a cruciate ligament he suffered while playing for his German team in August, has recovered and is back in action in the Bundesliga with Armenia Bielefeld.
Santana could give Ajax Cape Town’s Mabhuti Khenyeza a call-up for the match against the Chipololo Boys in view of his current hot form in the Absa Premiership scorers.
According to national team spokesperson Morio Sanyane, Safa are endeavouring to find another opponent for Bafana on February. The opponents are likely to be from Africa.
Bafana are also penciled to play Norway in Rustenburg during March.
