Chippa coach: I am gutted

Johannesburg - Following his side’s relegation to the National First Division, Chippa United coach Mark Harrison admits they have let themselves down and only have their poor finishing to blame.

According to the Soccer-Laduma website, Chippa’s relegation to the NFD was confirmed on Wednesday night as they drew 0-0 with MP Black Aces which left them on five points in the mini-league Promotion/Relegation play-offs and unable to catch Aces who were promoted.

Following the result at the Cape Town Stadium, Harrison admitted he was really upset with his side’s first half performance and their poor finishing, singling out a chance missed by Petrus Ngebo in the 40th minute of the match.

“I am gutted. We have lost one game in ten and we get relegated, I don’t know what to say and I can’t put any words to it really,” said Harrison.

“At the end of the day we have let ourselves down tonight.

“The first 45 minutes I thought we froze a little bit and the boys were too tight, apprehensive and didn’t want to commit.

“Saying that, though, we had an unbelievable opportunity, Petrus (Ngebo) how he doesn’t score I don’t know. I think I could have headed that one in.

“Second half we threw everything at them, we haven’t created a great deal but in saying that we had three fantastic chances to score.

“The result that has cost us is the loss away to Aces, that is what has cost us in the end.

“We gave everything on the night, I just feel that the first 45 minutes we froze up a bit.”

When asked what was in his near future Harrison concluded by saying, “I don’t know!”
