Porto, Copenhagen share points in CL opener

Portugal - FC Porto was held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Copenhagen in Group G of the Champions League on Wednesday.

Midfielder Otavio put the hosts ahead in the 13th minute but Copenhagen forward Andreas Cornelius equalized in the 52nd, and the visitors held on despite the 66th-minute sending off of Jan Gregus following consecutive yellow cards.

The result left both teams trailing Leicester, which opened its first Champions League campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Belgian champion Club Brugge.

Otavio took advantage of some poor ball control by the visitors to find the net with a powerful shot from the edge of the area, following a great pass by forward Andre Silva at the Dragon Stadium.

Cornelius equalized with a header from inside the area after just beating Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas to the ball.

Copenhagen is playing in the group stage of the European competition for the fourth time, and has earned at least a point in all its previous openers.

The Portuguese side next plays at Leicester, while Copenhagen hosts Club Brugge.
