Leverkusen - Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris drew high praise from Mauricio Pochettino after playing a key role in Tuesday's goalless draw with Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
Lloris' stop to deny Javier Hernandez a certain goal from
point-blank range in the second half was the standout in a top-class
performance.
"I think after two years here and a few months, my
third season at Tottenham, only I can say good things for him," Pochettino
said. "He is a fantastic goalkeeper, one of the best in the world. Today
in the second half he was brilliant again.
"I have not changed my opinion about him, that he is
one of the best goalkeepers in the world, he showed in every action today he is
top quality, one of the best.
"I think he is in the best moment of his career and always it is important to have a 'keeper like him."
Tottenham will look forward to the return of Toby
Alderweireld and Harry Kane after a difficult time up front and in defence.
The pair are set to make earlier-than-expected returns from
injury.
Pochettino said that a scan on Alderweireld's leg showed no
major problems, while Kane has already begun light training.
Tottenham could have both available for the return match against Leverkusen. Spurs remain second in Group E after Tuesday's stalemate, one point off the top spot.
