Cape Town - Napoli
goalkeeper Pepe Reina is determined not to lose against Champions
League holders Real Madrid in the first leg of their last-16 tie on
Wednesday.
The Azzurri are not expected to get past Los Blancos, but Reina, who was born in Madrid and is a product of the Barcelona youth academy - has urged his team-mates to give everything against Real because they have nothing to lose.
"I cannot lose this match," the Spaniard told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Napoli will have to take to the field without any sort of complex.
"This [Maurizio] Sarri team, with the speed and quality that it possesses, can get a result against anyone. They must, however, believe in themselves and their chance of winning.
"There is no reason to be afraid. If Napoli were to lose, they will do so against the European champions. Nothing will happen. If they win on the other hand, they will prove to be a phenomenon, changing forever from a personal perspective.
"I expect the best from this match: that Napoli play, run, suffer, fight and make sacrifices."
Meanwhile Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo suffered an injury scare ahead of the last 16 home leg against Napoli and trained apart from the team on Monday just two days ahead of the encounter.
The Portuguese goal machine with a record 96 Champions League strikes to his name suffered a heavy tackle in a 3-1 win over Osasuna at the weekend.
And as the rest of the Real Madrid squad trained on ball skills Monday "Cristiano Ronaldo and Fabio Coentrao trained inside the facilities' the Real website reported.
Ronaldo suffered a knock to his right leg, according to press reports, adding he was expected to shake off the injury in time to play Wednesday.
