Lewandowski believes Bayern can starve Arsenal

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski believes they can keep Arsenal's chances down to a minimum when the sides meet in the Champions League last 16.

Die Roten will host the Gunners at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday for the first leg of their last 16 tie, after beating Ingolstadt in their last Bundesliga game at the weekend.

Bayern have knocked Arsenal out at this stage of the competition for the past two seasons, and Lewandowski is confident that a team performance will mitigate the threat posed by the north London side.

“The win in Ingolstadt was very important. Now we’re focused on the Champions League," the Pole told Bayern's official website.

“Everyone’s waiting for this game. It will be a big challenge for us. I hope we can deliver a good performance and play really well here in Munich.

“Arsenal has very good footballers. They know what it means to play in the Champions League.

“We need to concentrate on ourselves. If we play our game then Arsenal probably won’t get many chances. But we must play well from back to front."

Kick off is at 21:45.
