Keita: Real Madrid are beatable

Cape Town - Roma midfielder Seydou Keita believes that his side stands an outside chance in their Champions League clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday.

The Giallorossi welcome the Spanish titans to Stadio Olimpico for the first leg of their Round of 16 encounter, and the former Barcelona man is backing new manager Luciano Spalletti to have a plan against Los Blancos.

"We have confidence in our own ability, and the preparation the Coach will give us for the match," he told Roma Radio.

"He'll study the best way to win a game that is difficult, but not impossible."

The Italian side have improved in recent weeks, and head into the match on the back of four consecutive wins in Serie A, a change in fortune that the Mali international credits to Spalletti's arrival.

"The change of coach has changed the mentality," the 36-year-old added. "When there's a change it must be because things are bad, and so things have to change.

"The mental aspect and the trust has changed, and things are going well at the moment with four straight wins. The team is improving bit-by-bit, but we're on the right path.

"This is a positive period for the club, the team and the fans. When a team is winning, that's the most important thing in football."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
