Guardiola to concentrate on the Premier League

Cape Town - Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has warned the rest of the Premier League that the competition is their main focus from now until February.

City qualified for the Champions League with a game to spare after an unconvincing 1-1 draw against Borussia Moenchendgladbach on Wednesday.

Guardiola's side went behind on 23 minutes when Raffael scored a 15-yard driving shot before David Silva converted a low cross from Kevin de Bruyne on the stroke of half-time to equalise.

The Spaniard will now prepare his troops for a tricky December in which they face Premier League title rivals Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.

“We have qualification in the pocket until February so now we can concentrate on the Premier League and be so satisfied," Guardiola said after the match.

“We are going to see (if it is an advantage). It looks better, but we are going to see. Sometimes you have one week to prepare like the other teams. We will have more time for people to be fresh.”

The Citizens only have one more game to play in the Champions League group stage, against Celtic next month and Guardiola thinks his side deserve credit for getting out of a tough group.

“After the draw we knew how difficult the group would be," Guardiola added.

“We have qualified with one game left and it’s a big compliment for the team.”

City next travel to Turf Moor where they will take on a Burnley side desperate to pick up points after Sean Dyche's men suffered a 4-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.
