Guardiola: Players won't be fatigued against Monaco

Cape Town - Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is adamant that his players will not be feeling the effects of fatigue when they take on Monaco in the Champions League.

The Spanish tactician fielded a strong side against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday and came out on top 2-0.

However, opting not to rest key players ahead of the Champions League last-16 second leg on Wednesday could see some tired City legs head onto the Stade Louis II pitch.

"It doesn't matter," Guardiola told the press when asked about the energy levels of his players.

"When you are going to play the 'eighth-finals' of the Champions League in Monaco, just the desire to be in the quarter-finals will put our little tired situation away.

"We started the week well, we won the first one and we will have a lot of confidence to play in Monaco next Wednesday."

City take a 5-3 aggregate lead into the second leg of their last-16 tie.

Kick off is at 21:45.
