Bosz speaks for feeble Dortmund

Cape Town - Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Bosz admits that it will be difficult for his side to progress in the Champions League after Tuesday's 1-1 draw with APOEL.

Goalkeeper Roman Burki was very much at fault for the opening goal, allowing Mickael Pote to score, before Sokratis Papastathopoulos headed BVB level.

"The result is disappointing," Bosz said.

"We started well, but didn't get a goal. We didn't play out from the back quickly enough. We wanted to improve on that in the second half, but we were unable to do so.

"Overall, we should be happy that we still managed to get a draw. In such games, it is important to score first, and we had opportunities to do that in the first half, but all of our shots were off-target."

Regarding Burki, Bosz defended the Swiss keeper from blame, insisting that "the team won't lay the blame at his door".

"Roman has also done much to help the team so far this season," he said. "It happens in football."

The result leaves Dortmund on just one point in Group H, which is lead by Real Madrid and Tottenham on seven points each, leaving BVB with little hope of progressing.

"It will be difficult now," Bosz added. "We have to win our home game against Nicosia and then take a look how both of the last two games play out."
