Cape Town - The player's whose challenge left Luke Shaw with a double leg fracture was named the man of the match after PSV beat Manchester United 2-1 on Tuesday.
Manchester Evening News reports that UEFA's decision to award Hector Morena the man of the match has angered the English club.
A source close to the team revealed the Red Devils were "furious" with the decision.
The 27-year-old PSV defender potentially ended Shaw's season in the 15th minute of the match.
Moreno scored his side's first half equaliser before Luciano Narsingh scored a second-half winner for the Dutch side.
Moreno has since sent his best wishes as Shaw recovers from the double leg fracture.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has slammed the tackle which left Shaw's season in tatters.
