Cape Town - Following their thumping win over Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has lauded veteran Ryan Giggs, who had a stellar game against the Germans.
The Red Devils humiliated Sami Hyypia's men 5-0 in their UEFA Champions League Group A clash at the BayArena Stadium in Germany on Wednesday night.
United goals came from Antonio Valencia, Jonny Evans, Nani, Chris Smalling and an own goal from Bayer defender Emir Spahic.
The England forward was lost for words after witnessing the Welshman's contribution to the game.
In an interview with the Sky Sports website, Rooney said he’s run out of things to say about Giggs.
He said Lerverkusen’s centre-half asked during the game how Giggs is still playing at his age (39).
Rooney said he certainly won't be playing at that age and said Giggs’ composure on the ball is great.
United's triumph meant they will hold onto their Group A top spot and automatically book a place in the last 16 round of the biggest global club competition.
Their next encounter will be against the struggling Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premiership at White Hart
Lane on Sunday, two days after Giggs celebrates his 40th birthday.
Andres Villas Boas's troops are coming off a 6-0 humbling from United’s arch rivals, Manchester City, last weekend.
Kick-off for that encounter is scheduled for 14:00 (SA time).
