London - Manchester City announced that striker Carlos Tevez has been suspended for a maximum of two weeks while the club investigates his apparent refusal to play against Bayern Munich.
City manager Roberto Mancini said on Tuesday that Tevez refused to come off the substitutes' bench in the second half of the 2-0 loss in the Champions League.
A club statement on Wednesday night said that "Tevez has been suspended until further notice for a maximum period of two weeks ... pending a full review into his alleged conduct during Tuesday evening's 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich."
The club says Tevez will not be able to play or take part in training during the review.
Tevez issued a statement on Wednesday insisting it was all a misunderstanding.
