CAS to rule on Ribery ban

Lausanne - Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery appeared at the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Monday in a last ditch appeal against a UEFA ban that would sideline him from the Champions League final.

An AFP photographer saw Ribery arrive with Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and club lawyers.

A CAS spokesperson confirmed that the ruling by the court's arbitrators would be given on Tuesday, well ahead of Bayern's Champions League final against Inter Milan on Saturday.

European football's governing body imposed a three-match suspension on Ribery after he was sent off for a foul in the Champions League semi-final first leg clash with Lyon.

Rummenigge has insisted that the penalty was too harsh and should be reduced to one match, but Bayern lost its first appeal at UEFA last week.

Ribery, who scored in Bayern's 3-0 German Cup final victory against Werder Bremen on Saturday, has already served one match of his ban by being sidelined from the second leg in Lyon on April 27.

UEFA officials felt his tackle on Lyon striker Lisandro Lopez was dangerous.
