Malaga - Anderlecht twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at Group C winner Malaga on Tuesday but failed to earn a Europa League spot because Zenit St. Petersburg won.
Malaga captain Duda made it 1-0 in the 45th minute of the Champions League match with a powerful shot into the top of the net after receiving a cross from Sebastian "Seba" Fernandez.
Milan Jovanovic equalised in the 50th by pouncing on a loose ball and hitting it over goalkeeper Carlos Kameni.
Malaga went ahead again in the 61st when Duda's low shot went under goalkeeper Silvio Proto and inside the far post. But Dieudonne Mbokani leveled for Anderlecht in the 90th.
Zenit won 1-0 at AC Milan to seal third spot. Malaga and Milan had already qualified for the last 16.
"We did a great job and we are happy," Duda said. "Their final goal was a shame, but the important thing was getting a point. Now we can think about our next league match."
Malaga midfielder Manuel Iturra came close to scoring in the sixth minute after connecting with a cross by Eliseu from the left.
Malaga midfielder Ignacio Camacho came on as a substitute for Jeremy Toulalan, who was taken off on a stretcher in obvious pain with what looked like an ankle injury in the 16th minute.
Kameni athletically blocked a powerful header by Mbokani in the 21st minute.
"The goal this year has been achieved, which was to get the next round," Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini said. "From now on every opponent we play against is tricky, but the important thing is to be fit when we play in February."
