Bloemfontein - Bloemfontein Celtic reached the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup when they came back from a goal down to beat Free State Stars 2-1 at the Charles Mopeli Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Luyolo Nomandela put the home side ahead early in the first half, but Celtic responded after the break through strikes from Lyle Lakay and substitute Lennox Bacela.
After a quiet start to the game the opener arrived in the 19th minute when Nomandela controlled a high pass from Dove Wome on the left side of the box before beating Patrick Tignyemb with a low finish.
The visitors almost capitalised from a defensive error to find an equaliser in the 36th minute when Daniel Cardoso failed to clear the ball inside the box, but Mogorosi saw his curled shot slapped away by Kennedy Mweene.
In the 45th minute Wome created some space outside before firing towards the target, but his solid strike was deflected wide by Dominic Isaacs as Stars took their 1-0 lead into the break.
The second half started at a good pace with both sides looking to strike first, but Wome sent his long range effort over the crossbar before Johannes Motlhaping did the same at the other end two minutes later.
In the 59th minute Wome managed to get his freekick on target, but this time the Togolese international was denied by a good save from Tignyemb, who dived low to his right to push the ball wide.
Celtic found the equaliser out of nothing just six minutes later as Lakay beat Mweene with a well-struck shot from a long way out, taking advantage of acres of space outside the Stars penalty area.
