Barcelona clinch Audi Cup

Munich - Thiago Alcantara scored in each half to help Champions League winners Barcelona beat Bayern Munich 2-0 and clinch the pre-season Audi Cup on Wednesday.

Both teams used many young payers who are usually not in their starting lineups, especially Barcelona, and made many substitutions. Barcelona star Lionel Messi is still on vacation and did not travel to Munich.

Thiago scored with a header in the 42nd and secured the victory with a perfectly curled shot from the edge of the penalty area in the 75th minute.

Bayern stars Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben missed the match with ankle injuries.

Earlier, Internacional Porto Alegre took third place by winning a penalty shootout 2-0 against AC Milan, whom led 2-1 with 10 minutes remaining in regulation time.

Robinho set up both Milan goals.

Internacional goalkeeper Renan stopped three Milan penalties and the Italian side hit the post once, missing all four shots.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored three minutes into the game, Leandro Damiao tied the match, then Alexandre Pato restored Milan's lead, before Andres D'Alessandro scored to force the shootout.

No extra time was played.
