This is not the first time the former Bafana Bafana skipper has been hospitalised, as he suffered three heart attacks in 2015.

The 54-year-old had been training on Sunday afternoon when he went into cardiac arrest, according to his brother Mark Tovey.

Tovey made 52 appearances for Bafana Bafana, captaining the national side on 29 occasions.
