Sandilands gets Bafana call-up

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands has been entrusted to replace the injured Itumeleng Khune in the Bafana Bafana squad.

It was initially thought that Khune's understudy at Kaizer Chiefs, Brilliant Khuzwayo, would replace the 28-year-old but could not commit to the call-up as he had family matters to attend to.

The official Twitter account for the South African national football team confirmed that the 32-year-old Sandilands will get his shot to vie for the goalkeeper spot against Angola.

"Wayne Sandilands has been called up as replacement of the injured Itumeleng Khune, he is already in camp," said the Tweet.

Bafana Bafana take on Angola in two World Cup qualifying encounters in a space of four days.

The first clash will be the away leg, to be played on Friday, November 13 at the Ombaka National Stadium in Benguela, Angola.

Kick-off is at 15:30 (16:30 SA time).

Bafana Bafana will then host Angola four days later (Tuesday, November 17) in Durban at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Kick-off is at 19:00.
