Xulu hopes for Bafana chance

Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns centre-back Siyanda Xulu hopes to feature in South Africa's 2014 Soccer World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia in Rustenburg.

The 21-year-old was called up to the Bafana squad in midweek to replace the injured Siyabonga Sangweni (ankle), and is likely to provide cover to Morgan Gould and Bongani Khumalo at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday.

"It's always good to represent the country and as a young player it affords you the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the great South African players who ply their trade in Europe," Xulu told Downs' official website.

"I also learn a lot from some of my favourite players such as, Morgan Gould and Bongani Khumalo because they keep it simple but they play the most effective football.

"I will give it my best shot if the coach decides to include me in the game squad."

Sangweni will also miss Bafana's June 9 qualifier with Botswana in Gaborone.
