Victory not enough for Bafana

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana will not be participating at the 2016 CHAN tournament, despite beating Angola 2-1 in a qualifier in Luanda on Saturday.

The South Africans lost 3-2 on aggregate.

Bafana had a mountain to climb after losing the first leg 2-0 at Rand Stadium last week, and they got the early goal they needed when Lyle Lakay's cross from the left was turned home by an Angolan defender in the 28th minute.

However, the home side managed to level matters just before the half-time break through Gerson and extend the aggregate lead to 3-1.

Bafana grabbed a second goal thanks to a stunning effort from Lyle Lakay in stoppage time, although it proved to be a consolation in the tie, as Angola held on for the 3-2 aggregate win.
