Victory not enough for Bafana

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana will not be participating at the 2016 CHAN tournament, despite beating Angola 2-1 in a qualifier in Luanda on Saturday.

The South Africans lost 3-2 on aggregate.

Bafana had a mountain to climb after losing the first leg 2-0 at Rand Stadium last week, and they got the early goal they needed when Lyle Lakay's cross from the left was turned home by an Angolan defender in the 28^th minute. 

However, the home side managed to level matters just before the half-time break through Gerson and extend the aggregate lead to 3-1.

Bafana grabbed a second goal thanks to a stunning effort from Lyle Lakay in stoppage time, although it proved to be a consolation in the tie, as Angola held on for the 3-2 aggregate win.
