Spain stay top, Bafana drop

Zurich - Bafana Bafana have dropped two places to 49th in the latest rankings released by the world football's governing body FIFA.

Bafana Bafana, who are unbeaten in four matches this year, last faced Egypt in Cairo in June when they played to a goalless draw.

Their next fixture is a friendly international against Burkina Faso in Johannesburg on August 10.

World and European champions Spain stay top while Copa America winners Uruguay rise from 18th to fifth spot.

The latest monthly standings will be used to help decide seedings in Saturday's 2014 Soccer World Cup qualifying draw.

Spain, the Netherlands and Germany lead the way, with Brazil rising one place to fourth despite only reaching the Copa America quarter-finals.

Sixth-place England and No 8 Italy both fall two places, but are assured of top seeding in their qualifying groups.
