FNB Stadium hosts SA v Zambia

Johannesburg - Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Kalusha Bwalya has confirmed that the African champions are likely to face Bafana Bafana at the FNB Stadium on November 14.

According to the supersport.com website, the match has long been on the calendar of both countries, but the venue has been uncertain up until now.

Bwalya appeared to confirm the venue when he tweeted on Monday: “All things being equal Bafana vs Chipolopolo will be played at Soccer City (FNB Stadium) on the 14th Nov for the Nelson Mandela Challenge. Good venue.”

It will be just the third time that Bafana have played at the newly-built stadium, once the traditional home of the national side.

They beat Colombia 2-1 in a pre-2010 FIFA World Cup warm-up match, and then drew 1-1 with Mexico in the opening game of the tournament.

South Africa have played Zambia more than any other country since readmission to international soccer in 1992, their previous 14 matches seeing each side win four, with six draws.
