Johannesburg - South African international defender Tsepo Masilela has caught the eye of Italian Serie A club Cesena, according to agent Mike Makaab.
Masilela currently plays for Israeli side Maccabi Haifa but has made his intentions to move to another league clear.
He had been on the verge of agreeing a loan deal with Sven Goran Eriksson's English Championship side Leicester City, but the arrival of Paul Konchesky from Liverpool put pay to that move.
Now it seems Masilela could follow in the footsteps of former Bafana Bafana defender Mark Fish, who also plied his trade in the Serie A.
"Cesena, Serie A, Italy expressed an interest in Tsepo Masilela. We should know more next week," Makaab tweeted late on Thursday night.
Cesena, who play at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi, finished last season's Serie A in 15th place.
Their most well-known current player is former Chelsea misfit Adrian Mutu, and their most famous ex-player is none other than current AC Milan skipper Massimo Ambrosini.
They may not be one of Italy's top team's but the Serie A is certainly a move up from the Israeli league and the second tier of British football.
