SAPS offer reward for Meyiwa leads

Cape Town - The South Africa Police Service has offered a R150,000 reward for tips that lead to the capture of Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa's killers.

Meyiwa was shot dead on Sunday evening while visiting singer girlfriend Kelly Khumalo, who is also the mother of his infant child born earlier this year.

SAPS used Twitter to provide updates on the developments after investigations were done at the house where the Buccaneers goal-minder was gunned down.

"We have to break normal protocol," said the update from the mirco-blogging site. "We can confirm that Bucs keeper Senzo Meyiwa has been shot and sadly declared dead on arrival at hospital.

"We must emphasise break of protocol...We know there are upset and hurt people at the house where incident occurred and at hospital."

SAPS also used the opportunity to provide more details about the incident and posted: "The incident happened at around 20h00, Zamo Section in Vosloorus.

"Reward of up to R150 000 is on offer for any info that can lead to arrest.

"No one present in the house was hurt... We can assure all South Africans that we will do all can to bring Meyiwa's killers (to) book.

"There were seven people inside the house. Two suspects went into the house, one remained outside. The three fled on foot after the shooting."
