SAFA apologise for Bafana delay

Cape Town – The South African Football Association have released a statement apologising for the late arrival of the Bafana Bafana squad.

Sport24 reported that the Premier Soccer League have postponed four of this weekend’s scheduled PSL fixtures.

The fixtures postponed are: Chippa United vs SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits vs Jomo Cosmos, Kaizer Chiefs vs MP Black Aces and Platinum Stars vs Ajax Cape Town.

SAFA have now released a statement apologising to the clubs and fans alike for the delay of national team’s arrival.

“Due to unavailability of flights from Central America direct to South Africa, the Bafana Bafana squad will only land in South Africa on Saturday morning from Sao Paulo, Brazil,” read the statement on SAFA website.

“We would like to apologise to the PSL, clubs and fans for the inconvenience which resulted in the postponement of four matches scheduled for this weekend.

“We would also like to thank all the stakeholders for their cooperation regarding this matter.”

Bafana Bafana leave Central America unbeaten having won Costa Rica 1-0 courtesy of an Andile Jalie goal and drawing to Honduras in their final match on tour.
