Player ratings: Sudan v Bafana

Cape Town - Sport24 rates how the Bafana Bafana players fared as Shakes Mashaba’s second tenure in charge of Bafana Bafana got off to a perfect start on Friday evening as South Africa defeated Sudan 3-0 at the Al Merreikh Stadium.

As it happened: Sudan v Bafana Bafana

Mashaba was bold in his selection and strategy as the new Bafana Bafana coach opted to play a youthful side against Sudan in very tough atmosphere. South Africa did not sit back and were happy to attack their hosts whenever possible.

Stand-in captain and goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa had a fantastic game as he produced a number of fine saves to deny the hosts particularly in the first half where Bafana Bafana struggled to retain possession.

The star of the night was Sibusiso Vilakazi, who's killer instinct in front of goals allowed Bafana Bafana to play the final half an hour with a two goal cushion. Unfortunately for debutant Keagan Dolly, it was a forgettable night where he struggled to find his way in the lineup and was replaced by Themba Zwane early into the second half.
