Pitso backs youth all the way

Pitso Mosimane (Gallo)
Johannesburg - Pitso Mosimane has revealed he will turn to young guns when he names his squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger.

The match marks Mosimane's first competitive fixture in charge of the South African national team following the departure of Carlos Alberto Parreira.

Drawn alongside the Nigeriens, Sierra Leone and African champions Egypt in Group G of 2012 AFCON qualifying, Bafana Bafana simply have to win their opening game if they are to compete for a place in the CAF showpiece.

Mosimane will on Thursday unveil the squad for next Saturday's match in Nelspruit and he plans on injecting some youth into the fray.

"I will slowly begin a process of integrating the younger players into the team, hence I've called some of them for this camp," he told The Cape Times.

"For the Ghana match last month, we had just Andile Jali, but others are coming in as well."

Although Mosimane is eager to introduce new blood, he has warned South Africa's starlets he will not tolerate egoism and ill discipline.

"Junior players need to be seen playing at their clubs and must seize the moment. Those who suddenly see themselves as stars and misbehave will not be selected," he explained.
